Trick Shot Hoops

Shots that look impossible: walls in the way, low ceilings, trampolines and moving platforms. Find the perfect bounce and sink it.

Recommended age: 12 and up

Drag the ball back and release to shoot: the further you pull, the harder it flies. The dotted line shows the start of the path.

How to play

Types of basket

BasketBonus
Swish (no rim)+50 points
Bank shot+50 points
Regular100 base points

Each leftover try adds 20 points. Score on the first try for three stars, on the second or third for two, and after that for one.

Five tips for sinking it

  1. High arc, bigger hoop. A ball dropping almost straight down has the whole rim to fall through. A flat shot clips the front rim.
  2. Use the backboard. Aiming at the top of the backboard is easier than going for the hoop directly.
  3. Count your bounces. Every bounce costs energy (except on trampolines). If you plan to bounce, shoot harder.
  4. Time the platform. On levels with purple platforms, watch the rhythm first and release just as the gap is about to open.
  5. Change one thing. If you just missed, repeat the same shot and move your finger only slightly. Consistency wins games.

The physics of the ball

The ball follows a parabola under gravity and, when it hits something, bounces off at the same angle it came in, but slower: physicists call this the coefficient of restitution. Trampolines have a coefficient above 1, which is why the ball leaves faster than it arrived, something that only happens in real life when the surface pushes back.

Playing with bounces builds intuition for reflection (the same rule that light follows in a mirror or a pool ball follows off a cushion) and for predicting paths.

FAQ

Do I need to know physics to play?

No. You learn by trying: after a few shots you can feel how the ball responds.

Is my progress saved?

Yes, in your browser: unlocked levels, stars and your total score.

Does it work on tablets?

Yes, you play by dragging with your finger on any screen.
